Quick search hints

On the main page you can search the collection by Creator, Title, Subject and Type of the document. You can enter more than one search terms in the first three field, and you can use the fields simultaneously. The type has to be selected from a dropdown menu, and you can choose only one at a time. (Only those types are shown in this menu that are already present in the database.) This way you are going to get a list of the documents that are described with all of the search terms in their bibliographic data (Boolean AND operation). Truncation is possible with the * wildcard character at the end of the words. You are not required to use capitals or Hungarian accentuated letters. All the following examples are valid search criteria:

Title: mária terézia
Creator: Kempelen Farkas   Title: mappa
Subject: színháztörténet 19 század
Subject: hodmezo* Type: képeslap

The search is much more effective if you enter only significant terms in the search field (i.e. the family name of the creator, or one or two keywords of the title), this way you are going to get more results sooner. In the case of special terms or names you may also try the "search in all data fields" function under the quick search form. Subject search is possible only with Hungarian keywords. If you do not know the search term in Hungarian, we recommend that you use the "Browse by Subject" option available on the left-side button-bar of the main page.
